What the ITV teaches about waiting

My brother’s car has being fined (he received a nice 200€ fine by post) because his ITV run out of date and he didn't go for the new check-up because he has been too busy at work lately he completely forgot about it so to give him a hand I offered to take his car to the ITV in Malaga because I had a dentist appointment at 11am and it was on my way there (ITV is the periodic obligatory mechanic inspection of the conditions of your car).
Usually you can take an online appointment at  www.veiasa.es (Web page is only on Spanish) or via phone but when he tried he got the next available appointment for the 15th of March which is way too long to wait and risk another fine. One can also go to the ITV centre very early in the morning (early like 6:30 – 7am) and get a non-appointment number. I’ve done it before and it usually takes a couple of hours of waiting and you can get your car checked, but that wasn't happening today.
By the time I made it to the ITV centre at 7am the queue for the non-appointment numbers where already quite long and I got number B0032 . Bummer… and without even a cup of coffee in my system I began the wait.
Not so easy to keep a good attitude while having to listen to
a woman behind me moaning all the time...

The non-appointment system works by filling the place of people who didn’t showed up for the pre-assigned appointments with us who don’t actually have one, and today was the day people actually chose to be responsible and punctual, to my horrible pain.
I still had a bit of faith so I decided to wait. Two hours passed and the “B” numbers were only at B006. Seeing this was going to take a while longer I went for a coffee. Another hour passed and we were only for B0016. By 10:30 it has only moved to B0018 and it was time for my dentist  appointment. I went to the dentist, came back, grab a sandwich, ate it and returned to the ITV center, now we were at B0023, I sat down next to my fellow “non-appointment” companions and kept waiting. By the time it arrived to B0027 I had already finished 20 levels of Jewels Saga, retouched 10 pictures on my phone and Instagramed 3 of them, checked my Pinterest boards, Facebook, Twitter and the first 25 entries of Reddit front page.
Only 5 numbers to go!
My eyes hurt, I felt as if I was inside the Matrix because even when I closed my eyes all I saw was the panel with the flashing lights showing the numbers in the queue and then the sweet moment of glory arrived at 12.50, they called my number, number B0032, I honest to God jumped up and down in front of the guy at the desk.
I delivered the documents, pay the fee and thought “That’s it! The wait is over!” but how wrong I was. After paying I checked the receipt and it said “Car inspection will be performed at approximately 14:00hs”.
I was deflated. That meant another hour of waiting.
I prayed to the Flying Spaghetti Monster for patience.

And that’s when I began writing this post. Didn't have much to do while waiting as I have exhausted all my phone games and read enough to have my eyes almost permanently crossed. By the time I got to this paragraph they called my number so there I went with my little brother’s car for its inspection and… you won’t believe this but… it didn't pass the inspection...
I  was past the point where I could be mad at this, I was in denial.
Apparently one of the lights fail to work and they also recommended to replace the back tires.
The light was fine the previous day but I guess that all the waiting also got the best of the car and about the tires, we took the car to the garage the previous week and they never mentioned anything wrong with the tires. So now, we have 60 days to fix the issues and take the car back for inspection.
Well, sometimes you can’t get what you want.
